Deşi mai e o săptămână din ediţia 2018 a US Open, este puţin probabil ca “lovitura turneului” reuşită de Roger Federer în partida cu Nick Kyrgios din turul 3 să fie depăşită (videoclip 1).
Magia lui Roger a fost apreciată în primul rând de adversarul lui, australianul spunând la conferinţa de presă:
Am încercat să-i spun că lovitura n-a fost bună (râzând). A fost aproape ireal. L-am adus aproape de punctul unde ar fi putut reuşi asemenea lovituri şi până la urmă am reuşit. Am fost foarte mulţumit de mine. Probabil că o s-o postez pe Instagram (videoclip, mai jos).
Nick n-a postat încă punctul, ci fotografia de mai jos, însoţită de mesajul:

La rândul lui, autorul loviturii, GOAT, a enumerat la conferinţa de presă alte două reuşite ale sale: una în partida cu Andy Roddick la Basel 2002 şi alta cu Andre Agassi la Dubai 2005 (videoclip 2 şi 3).
Kyrgios talking about RF’s trick: “I was trying to tell him that the shot wasn’t that good (smiling). No, it was almost unreal. Almost got to the point where I wanted him to start making shots like that, and I finally got it. I was pretty happy with myself”
